This working Saturday, 5 Division Benches of the Bombay HC will not be “available for judicial work”

Today, a working Saturday for the Bombay High Court, five Division Benches and one Single Bench of the Bombay High Court will not be “available for judicial work”. On September 8 this year, the Bombay High Court had declared September 13 to be a court holiday on account of Bakri-id. The same notification stated that November 19 would be a working Saturday in order to make up for lost judicial time..However, on September 16, this working Saturday was shifted from November 19 to today, October 1. But if the subsequent notifications are any indication, then it is unlikely that the judicial man-hours lost on account of the holiday will be made up today..On September 28, a Bombay High Court notice declared that the following benches will “not be available for judicial work”:.The Division Bench of VM Kanade & Swapna Joshi JJThe Division Bench of Naresh H Patil & Prakash D Naik JJThe Division Bench of Anoop Mohta & GS Kulkarni JJThe Division Bench of Ranjit More & Anuja Prabhudesai JJThe Single Bench of KK Tated J.In effect, the four senior judges who sit in a Division Bench will not be hearing matters this working Saturday.
