Who can file complaints under Section 498A IPC? Supreme Court answers [Read Judgment]May 1 2019
The Supreme Court on Tuesday held that a complaint under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) need not necessarily be filed by the woman who is subjected to cruelty by her husband. In the judgment delivered by the Bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and KM Joseph, the Court has held that a complaint filed by a relative of a woman subjected to cruelty by her husband or in-laws is also maintainable.
