Jindal Global University Vice-Chancellor and JGLS Dean said, “This relationship with White & Case is part of our effort to underscore the importance of providing global legal education to our students. One of the important aspect of this global unification is to engage with international institutions, international law firms and global law schools around the world”..He further added, “White & Case is one of the most prestigious corporate law firm, for them it is knowledge based partnership. What it means at least for us is that instead of law firms in India and around the world looking at law schools to be purely sort of recruitment agencies, what we have tried to do is to provide a framework where we see each other as knowledge partners”..This MOU provides framework for White & Case and JGLS for organising joint conferences, round table, seminars. It provides for White & Case partners to come and teach students. It provides for students to take up both internship and placements with White & Case..Infact, four of JGLS students were recently working as interns in two of White & Case international offices. Two of them were in Singapore and two were in Abu Dhabi office..Kumar further added, “The other aspect of collaboration at least for White & Case is to come into India in a way that it will also contribute in strengthening the counters of legal education and legal profession within India”..Hugh Verrier, Chairman of White & Case in a press release said, “Our association with this pioneering global law school will help prepare a new generation of lawyers who can operate effectively in a globalized world”..Nandan Nelivigi, a partner with White & Case and head of the Firm’s India Practice in a statement said, “Teaming up with one of the best law schools in India will allow the Firm, through its social responsibility initiative, to make contributions to the further strengthening of India’s legal education system and its legal profession”..Kumar said, “This partnership with White & Case provides new form of impetus for law firms to work with law schools”..This is a unique arrangement between a global law firm and an Indian law school to promote and develop a new level of legal education.
