The PIL seeking a ban on raising and hoisting green flags sporting a crescent moon and a star was heard by the Supreme Court today..Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Syed Waseem Rizvi had filed this PIL through Senior Counsel SP Singh. The matter was heard today by a Bench of Justices AK Sikri and Ashok Bhushan..The ban has been sought by the petitioner on the grounds that the said flag resembles the flag of the Pakistan Muslim League, a political outfit in that country.
