Telangana Advocate General D Prakash Reddy resigns over tiff with govt

Telangana Advocate General D Prakash Reddy has resigned from the post, over differences with the government in the handling of a case pertaining to the expulsion of two Congress MLAs, according to media reports.

The state government was reportedly unhappy with Prakash Reddy after he gave an assurance to the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad that video footage of the fracas that rocked the state assembly during Governor ESL Narasimhan’s pre-budget address would be submitted in a sealed cover.

The incident had led to the expulsion of two Congress MLAs, who challenged the move before the High Court.

The government is yet to accept his resignation, which was tendered on Sunday.

Reddy is the second Advocate General in the last year to put in his papers. He took office in July last year after his predecessor K Ramakrishna Reddy, who served for three years between 2014 and 2017, resigned abruptly citing personal reasons.
