The Supreme Court today dismissed an appeal filed by lawyer Rohit Tandon against an order of Delhi High Court which had rejected his plea for bail..The order was passed today by a Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud..In May this year, Rohit Tandon’s bail application was dismissed by a Single Judge Bench of Justice SP Garg..The High Court had, however, granted him interim bail on August 10 to be with his mother, who was undergoing surgery. The interim bail had expired in September..Tandon was arrested after the Greater Kailash office of his law firm was raided post-demonetisation. Old and new currency notes worth Rs. 13.6 crore were seized from the lawyer’s office. He was charged with illegally converting old currency notes in connivance with a bank official..He was represented by Senior Advocate and former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi in the Supreme Court and in the Delhi High Court. Senior Advocates Ram Jethmalani and Vikas Pahwa had also appeared for him at the High Court..Tandon has been in custody for around eleven months on charges of illegally converting old currency notes..He founded the law firm Zeus Law Associates and subsequently set up T&T Law in 2014..Image taken from here.
