In a much publicised legal battle involving power supply companies, the Supreme Court has set aside a judgment of the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL), which had allowed levy of compensatory tariff by the companies on the ground of rise in prices of raw materials.
The judgment was delivered by a Bench of Justices PC Ghose and Rohinton Nariman.
The power supply companies had entered into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for supply of electricity.
