The Delhi High Court today took cognizance of the public interest litigation filed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy asking for a court-monitored SIT probe into the death of Sunanda Pushkar..Swamy alleged foul play in the death of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s wife and also accused Tharoor of influencing the investigation..The Division Bench of Justices GS Sistani and PS Teji asked Swamy what the public interest element in the plea was..Swamy replied by saying that Pushkar was going to hold a press conference in her hotel to disclose certain murky dealings in the Indian Premier League, therefore, he said,.“This is a fit case for court monitored CBI headed SIT probe.”.Swamy stated that Pushkar died in January 2014, while the FIR was registered in 2015. He also submitted that he has approached the court after three years and has exhausted all other options..The Court asked Swamy as to how Shashi Tharoor could influence an investigation by the police when he is not in power anymore. In reply, the BJP leader stated that Tharoor is still an MP and part of the largest opposition party in Parliament, and therefore, still in a position to exert influence..The Court said that it will hear all the parties on July 20.
