Member of Parliament, Shashi Tharoor urged the State government to take action on setting up of a Bench of Kerala High Court at the State Capital, Thiruvananthapuram..He was speaking at the High Court in Kochi on the topic “Law and Idea of India” as part of the Diamond Jubilee Lecture Series organised by the High Court, which is into its 60th year of existence..Tharoor spoke on a variety of subjects including the need to recognise the diversity of the country, the contribution of lawyers in the freedom struggle and the stellar role played by the Constituent Assembly in balancing India’s past with its future. He said,.“Constituent Assembly had the enormous task of balancing India’s past with its future. We chose to be a multi-party democracy and did not opt for autocracy. The idea of India is of one land embraced by many.
