Section 125 CrPC discriminates on ground of gender: Law governing Maintenance challenged in Supreme CourtSeptember 4 2019
A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of Section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which governs the law relating to maintenance.
Filed by former Jet Airways employee Vivek Bhatia, the petition states that Section 125 discriminates on the ground of gender, and is thus violative of Articles 14 and 15(1) of the Constitution of India. The petition states,
