The Supreme Court today set up a three-member committee to look into the issue of prison reforms. The committee will be headed by former judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Amitava Roy.
The Bench of Justices Madan Lokur and Deepak Gupta set up the committee, which will make recommendations on steps for prison reforms. The committee will look into issues plaguing Indian prisons, including overcrowding and lack of basic living conditions.
