It is promoted as being Asia’s biggest court complex..The Saket Court Complex comes in-built with a temporary lock-up for the under trials, till the time a permanent judicial lock-up is constructed..With the new Saket Courts Complex the litigants of South-Delhi will no longer be travelling to the Patiala House Court to attend their cases. Previously, 42 Civil and Criminal Trial Courts of New Delhi, South and South-East districts were located in the Patiala House Courts. With the new addition of the Saket Courts Complex, only New Delhi district will stay in the Patiala House Courts..The Hindustan Times has reported about a dengue scare in the Saket Court Complex premises. Three people including two Judges have been reported to be suffering from dengue fever..This is quite a bad start to the much awaited Court Complex which got pushed from three deadlines, starting from December 2009 to February 2010 and finally stretching it to June-July 2010..According to sources, several complaints were made to Public Works Department (PWD) officials about the poor drainage system in the area. However, nothing changed till the Judges fell ill, reportedly due to dengue fever..Speaking with lawyers who visited the Saket Courts Complex today, Advocate Gaurav said, “There is stagnant water at some places.”.An amount, in excess of Rs. 500 crore (approximately $11 million) has been spent on the infrastructure of the Saket Court Complex. One fails to understand, how a Court Complex which boasts of having state-of-the-art infrastructure and drainage system, to prevent waterlogging, is having bouts of dengue erupting!!!
