National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal has concluded its placement process for its 2011 batch with law firm Khaitan & Co. being the top recruiter followed by ICICI Bank and leading LPO Pangea3..NLIU placement was a year long process commencing with the pre-placement internships in the month of May and June. This was followed by the first round of ‘on-campus placements’ where firms, corporate houses, public sector undertakings and legal process outsourcing organisations (LPOs) visited the campus to recruit students during a fixed three day period in the month of August..In the second round of the on-campus placements, a rolling placement/recruitment process was adopted wherein the organisations visited the campus on mutually decided dates..The Placement Coordination Committee (PCC) was the sole body responsible for facilitating internships and placements at the University. The PCC was in-charge of coordinating with the organisations, organising pre-placement talks, guest lectures and placement related workshops and organising final placements..In terms of the specific numbers, the strength of graduating batch is 78 students, of which only 50 participated in the placement process. Out of the 50 participating students, 27 were placed by the PCC. Apart from this, 6 students were offered Pre-Placement Offers (PPO). The highest pay package went up to Rs. 14.8 lakh per annum with the average pay package being Rs. 7 lakh per annum..A total of 11 organization including law firms, companies and LPOs visited the campus whereas 6 organizations recruited students off-campus..Khaitan & Co. tops the list with 6 job offers of which 5 were made while visiting the campus. ICICI, Mumbai was the second highest recruiter, recruiting 4 students. Public Sector Undertaking, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. also recruited 3 students during campus placement. Amarchand & Mangaldas, Mumbai recruited 3 students through on-campus placements. We had a good mix of law firms, corporate houses, LPOs and Public Sector Undertakings participating in the placement process. Out of the remaining who did not sit for placements approximately 4-5 are opting for higher education with acceptances from Oxford University, London School of Economics & Cambridge University wheras 7-8 students are pursuing judicial clerkships”..He further added, “We would also be starting the recruitment process for the 2012 batch from July 15 with most of the leading organisations participating in the process”.
