Ten rebel MLAs of Congress and JD(S) in Karnataka have approached the Supreme Court challenging the delay by the Speaker of State Assembly in accepting their resignations.

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi mentioned the matter today before CJI Ranjan Gogoi for early listing.

“Speaker is deliberately not acting upon the resignation”, he said and sought a listing of the case for today or tomorrow.

“Time is of the essence”, he said.

“When do you want it?“, asked CJI Gogoi.

“Today or tomorrow”, said Rohatgi.

“Certainly not today”, replied CJI Gogoi.

“Then tomorrow”, Rohatgi said.

“We will see”, replied the CJI.

Rohatgi then sought to continue his arguments when CJI cut him short saying,

“Save something for tomorrow.”

Thus, the matter is likely to be listed tomorrow.
