Ram Mandir-Babri: “Don’t talk nonsense”, Heated exchange between Rajeev Dhavan and ASGs

The hearing in Ram Mandir Babri Masjid case in Supreme Court began with an unusually unpleasant war of words between Senior Counsel Rajeev Dhavan and Additional Solicitor Generals Maninder Singh and Tushar Mehta..The bickering apparently started after Maninder Singh asked Dhavan to move over a bit..The audible part of the exchange that followed went like this:.“Sit down Mr. Maninder Singh, sit down”, Rajeev Dhavan..Maninder Singh responded but the same was inaudible at the back..“Dont talk nonsense”, Rajeev Dhavan..“You are talking nonsense, absolute nonsense”, Maninder Singh..“There are people who are arrogant. With due respect to the learned Senior Counsel, he seems to have undergone a course in it”, Tushar Mehta..All the while the Bench did not intervene..Subsequently, Dhavan also engaged in war of words with Senior Counsel K Parasaran who opposed Dhavan’s submissions..“I am not indulging in theatrics and drama like Mr. Parasaran. He suddenly gets up and says things”, said Dhavan while also using the word “rubbish”..Senior Counsel CS Vaidyanathan took objection to the language employed saying.“What kind of language is being used”..“Why are they sitting next to me and murmuring away and murmuring away”, demanded Dhavan..“Why are you standing near us. There is enough space there (on the other side)”, retorted Tushar Mehta..Subsequently, Dhavan made his arguments on reference of the matter to Constitution Bench. The case will be heard next on April 27.
