Senior Advocate Rajendra Tiwari has been appointed as the new Advocate General for the State of Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking to Bar & Bench, Tiwari confirmed that he has taken charge as the state’s top law officer starting today. The notification regarding his appointment as AG was signed off today by the Chief Secretary of the State Law and Legislative Department.
Having enrolled in June 1964, Tiwari has practiced at the Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur and the lower courts for over 54 years. The veteran lawyer had served as Deputy Advocate General of the state from 1984 to 1988. He was designated as a Senior Advocate in 1995.
Consequent upon the change in government in Madhya Pradesh, Tiwari’s predecessor Purushaindra Kaurav tendered his resignation from the post of AG on December 12. Kaurav had been serving as AG since his appointment in June 2017.
