Rahul Gandhi in Delhi HC against Income Tax Dept's notice to re-open his tax assessmentAugust 8 2018
Congress President Rahul Gandhi, today, moved the Delhi High Court challenging a notice issued by the Income Tax Department in March 2018 to re-assess his tax liability for the financial year 2011-2012.
It is the IT department's stand that Gandhi suppressed information on his status as a Director of Young Indian Pvt Ltd, which led to tax evasion. Gandhi's shares in Young Indian allegedly resulted in an income of Rs. 154 crore as opposed to the earlier assessed income of Rs. 68 lakh.
