International Law Chambers (ILC), a member firm of SNG & Partners, has undergone a change in management. Managing Partner of SNG Rajesh Gupta has handed over management and control of the Doha-based ILC to Associate Partner Rahul Kumar (pictured right).
Kumar, who is a graduate of National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) Kolkata, has more than ten years’ experience as a corporate and finance lawyer.
While associated with the New Delhi office of SNG & Partners, Kumar had moved to Doha in 2014 to initiate the incorporation of ILC. Upon incorporation, Rahul was associated with ILC as an Associate Partner. He is the founding member of ILC and has been heading the practice of ILC in Doha along with handling the day-to-day operations of the firm.
About his plans for ILC, Kumar said in a press release,
“ILC, so far remains the first and the only Indian corporate law firm in Qatar. The fact that we are already dealing with the global big names in the banking and finance space has established our credibility and that is helping us to leverage the brand with the new clients.
Doha as a market is in a state of economic flux and our key challenge is to identify the untapped opportunities and to become the preferred legal service provider to our clients. We are heavily optimistic and enthusiastic about the opportunities and will target to consolidate our practice areas and boost our client interactions in this exciting phase of growth.
The idea now is to get more local law corporate and commercial work and to expand the team. If all goes as planned, we’ll also have English law capability very soon.”
The firm has also hired Phoenix Legal’s Amit Shankar (pictured left) as a Partner. A graduate of Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Raipur, Shankar has previously worked with HSA Advocates and ICICI Bank in Mumbai.
