A petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the murder of Advocate Darvesh Yadav has been filed in the Supreme Court..The PIL filed by Advocate Indu Kaul has also sought directions to provide security for women advocates in court and for the provision of all amenities to women even beyond court hours..The petitioner has also sought for the Court to direct the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh to pay compensation to Yadav’s family. Further it is prayed that the Court direct the Bar Council of India to formulate a social security scheme for women advocates, among other prayers..After the matter was mentioned for urgent hearing, the Vacation Bench of Justices Deepak Gupta and Surya Kant agreed to hear it on Tuesday, June 25..Darvesh Yadav, the first woman President of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, was shot dead inside the Agra district court premises by a fellow advocate on June 12..Yadav had assumed charge as President of the UP Bar Council two days earlier. She was attending a welcome ceremony when the incident happened. The assailant, and advocate named Manish Sharma, shot himself as well, following which he was admitted to hospital..The FIR lodged in connection with the murder has cited details of a personal grudge against Yadav as a possible reason for the incident. Lodged by Yadav’s relative, the FIR states that the wife Manish Sharma had threatened Yadav over the phone on previous occasions..Manish Sharma had also forcibly taken possession of the chamber of Yadav, the complaint states..The complaint further names another lawyer, Vineet Gulecha, who had gone to Manish Sharma’ s house and brought him to the place where Yadav was present for a welcome ceremony.
