Petition filed in Supreme Court to probe death of Judge BH Loya

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a probe into the death of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special judge, BH Loya.

The petition filed by a journalist from Maharashtra was mentioned today by advocate Anitha Shenoy, before the Bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra.

Shenoy sought early listing of the matter, which was allowed by the CJI who agreed to list the case tomorrow.

A similar petition, filed by the Bombay Lawyers Association is currently pending before Bombay High Court.

The petition before the Bombay High Court prays for the constitution of a Commission of Inquiry, headed by a retired Supreme Court judge, to carry out a probe into the alleged suspicious death of the Judge, who heard the Sohrabuddin case. The then Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah and several police officials were accused in the case.
