NUS Singapore pips NLSIU Bangalore in the Finals of GNLU International Moot Court Competition

The Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar (GNLU) recently organized the 5th edition of the GNLU International Moot Court Competition (GIMC) from February 6-10, 2013. The Competition saw participation from 42 law schools from India and abroad, including teams from USA, Singapore, Nepal, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka..The team from National University of Singapore (NUS) comprising of Kok Yee Keong, Teo Yihui Kristy and Catherine Julia Lim Mengwei was declared the winners of the competition defeating the team from NLSIU, Bangalore comprising of Mannat Sabhikhi, Ritika Sinha and Tanya Jain in the final round. Earlier, the two teams had been joined by RMLNLU Lucknow and Amity Law School, (IP University), New Delhi in the semi-final rounds..The NUS team took away a grand trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 35,000. The team also bagged a summer course/internship at the World Trade Institute, among others while the Runners Up team from NLSIU Bangalore took a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 and internships in the offices of LKS. During the Valedictory Ceremony, Mr. V. Lakshmikumaran announced that winners of the competition will get an additional internship opportunity at LKS offices too..GLC, Mumbai bagged the Best Written Submissions (Memorandum) award while the award for 2nd Best Written Submissions (Memorandum) was bagged by Amity Law School, (IP University), New Delhi. Kok Yee Keong from NUS bagged the Best Speaker award for the Preliminary Rounds while Teo Yihui Kristy won the Best Speaker award for the Final Rounds..The final round was adjudged by Dr. Christian Haberli, Senior Research Fellow at the World Trade Institute, Victoria Donaldson, Chief Legal Officer, WTO Appellate Body, V. Lakshmikumaran, Founding Partner at Lakshmi Kumaran and Sridharan (LKS), Prof. Lakshmi Jambholkar, Excecutive President at the Indian Society of International Law, and Prof. Bimal N Patel, Director, GNLU.
