NUJS issues clarification on Wasims death claims he fell from terrace

The National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata has issued a press release clarifying certain facts relating to the death of fourth year student Wasim Iqbal. The press release says that Wasim was severely injured after falling from the terrace. Further the University states that contrary to published reports, Wasim was a student “with the calibre to cope with the regular rigours of academic and extra-curricular activities”..Bar & Bench contacted several students in NUJS and spoke to them regarding the incident. Some section of students believe that Wasim committed suicide as he was upset that he will have to repeat a year while some students believe that it was just an accident..A friend of Wasim also told Bar & Bench that Wasim was not perturbed to the extent that he would commit suicide owing to exam results and he had even told his table-tennis partner that he would meet him in 20 minutes..There are conflicting reports on the cause of Wasim’s death and any further developments in this regard shall be reported.
