For this conference, NUJS seeks participation of 3 students from every participating law university and college along with one faculty member, all of who should be actively involved in their institution’s legal aid activities..Over the course of these 3 days, each participating law university and college will make a brief presentation about their legal aid activities and the steps they plan to initiate in the coming year. National and international experts on legal aid and clinical legal education from the bar, bench and academia will preside over the sessions and discuss how to better co-ordinate their efforts towards the common cause of legal aid..Additionally, the conference looks forward to the participating universities and colleges to take part in activities such as Paper presentation, Poster making and Street-Play. Tentatively, the topics for these should cover Free Legal Aid / Access to Justice / Clinical Legal Education / Women and Child Rights / Prisoners or Consumer Rights..Cash prizes will be awarded for the best paper presentations, and one prize each for best poster and street-play. The abstracts of the paper or confirmation on participation in poster making or street-play competition need to reach NUJS, Kolkata by the February 10, 2011..A selected number of papers and posters will be published in the conference volume titled “National Initiative for Increasing Access to Justice”.
