NUJS and CUSAT to jointly host conference on changes in copyright law Registrations to be completed by November 20 2012

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) IP Chairs at the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) and the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) will jointly host a Conference with the theme being: ‘The Copyright Amendments, 2012: A Fair Balance?’ in Kolkata on November 27 and 28, 2012..The conference will explore the latest amendments to India’s copyright regime, amendments that have far reaching implications for copyright jurisprudence, industry practice and social justice. The key note address will be delivered by Javed Akthar, noted lyricist and script writer. Prof. N. S. Gopalakrishnan, MHRD Chair Professor for Intellectual Property Law at CUSAT will deliver the introductory address on the overview of the amendments..The aim of the conference is to generate papers on the various themes discussed during the conference and which will culminate into both a journal and a book. The journal will be a special edition of the NUJS Law Review and the book will be published by the publishers of the NUJS Law Review, the Eastern Book Company..Details about the various sessions are available here..The conference is open to all. No registration fee is required for students enrolled in any university and non-profit organizations. For others, the fee is Rs 5,000 for registering and attending.
