No maintenance for adulterous divorcees: Of paradoxical laws and forgotten precedents

The Madras High Court recently held that a woman who has been divorced on the ground of adultery is not entitled to maintenance. As much flak as the judgment has received, the fact remains that the law itself is quite paradoxical. Before we get into that, here are the facts of the case.
