The Supreme Court today issued notice to Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a petition filed by Karti Chidambaram challenging summons issued by ED under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002..A Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud heard Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Chidambaram before issuing notice..However, the Court refused to grant any interim relief instead listed the matter for March 8, i.e. day after tomorrow..Sibal today argued that the ED was issuing summons to Karti Chidambaram for repayment of a loan given by his father..“Father gives loan to his son. That is returned by the son and that is national news and is made an offence under PMLA. I hope, in the future, Senior Advocates who give money to their sons will be prosecuted under PMLA”, said Sibal..Sibal submitted that ED cannot take a person into custody without being named in the FIR..“We are challenging arrest without being named in the complaint or FIR.
