NLSIU, NUSRL sign MoU for student and faculty exchange

A bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that seeks to broaden experiential learning has been signed between the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore and the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi.

The MoU was signed on February 22 by Vice-Chancellor of NLSIU Dr R Venkata Rao and Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) of NUSRL, Gautam Kumar Choudhary.

While the nitty-gritties of the MoU are still to be ironed out, the two  Universities have agreed on a broad framework within which they would collaborate.

Associate Professor Dr MS Murthy, who is the Registrar (in charge) at NUSRL, told Bar & Bench that the initiative would involve aspects such as student and faculty exchanges.

He added that whilst the eligibility criteria for those wishing to participate in such programs was yet to be decided, some broad outlines had been drawn up.

For instance, it had been envisaged that there would be a mutual exchange of students, for one-credit courses.

Dr Murthy said that the exchange period (for students) would probably last between a week to two weeks, and added that such exchanges would help students experience different socio-cultural environments, and varied lecturing techniques.

Another important aspect of the MoU was joint access to library facilities, and access to faculty from both institutions for PhD students.

The MoU also focuses on areas such as the procurement of funding, according to Dr Murthy, who added that more details would be forthcoming shortly.
