NLSIR to hold its 5th Annual Symposium from 5-6 May 2012 Focus on corporate mergers and acquisitions

The National Law School of India Review (NLSIR) is holding its 5th Annual Symposium on May 5-6, 2012 at the National Law School of India campus in Bangalore. The theme of this year’s symposium is “Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions in India: Recent Regulatory Changes” and will see a host of speakers including Ashok Chawla, Chairman of the Competition Commission of India, Uday Holla, Senior Counsel and Somasekhar Sundaresan, Partner at J. Sagar Associates..The 5th symposium continues in the tradition of the previous four editions and will be focused on recent changes in the legal field. Speaking to Bar & Bench, Krishnaprasad KV, Chief-Editor of NLSIR, said the NLSIR symposiums have always been focused on contemporary developments in law.”The Symposium in its previous years,” says Krishnaprasad “has treated topics ranging from Intellectual property rights to arbitration to the highly controversial aspects of corporate governance.”.“This year, the legal community has seen interesting changes in the field of merger regulations in Competition Law, an overhaul of the Companies Act and the SEBI Takeover Code and of course the controversial decision in Vodafone”, says Krishnaprasad..Speaking about the collaboration between the symposium and the journal, Krishnaprasad says that the NLSIR shall be publishing a report of the symposium proceedings in the journal and “also request the speakers who are attending the symposium to contribute articles to the journal.”.Speaking about the challenges faced by Indian law school journals, Krishnaprasad says that they are trying to increase visibility across a wider section of readers. NLSIR is also adopting a “partial open access policy” under which previous volumes of NLSIR are uploaded on their website.
