NLIU students launch monthly newsletterquotVox Populiquot To provide forum for debate and also chronicle NLIU activities

A group of students at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU) recently launched a monthly newsletter,‘Vox Populi’. The newsletter is a student initiative led by Arpita Seth, Swati Singh Baghel (both of the 4th year) and Chetna Srivastava (2nd year). The objective of this newsletter is to chronicle the various activities taking place at NLIU, to provide a platform for students to express their views and also to allow for the exchange of views on contemporary legal issues..The first issue of Vox Populi had information on, inter alia, NLIU’s sports fest “VIRUDHAKA”, the internship experiences of NLIU students, the recently concluded NLIU-INADR Mediation Competition and also contained an interview with an NLIU alumnus currently studying at Harvard Law School.Speaking to Bar and Bench, Seth (pictured left), said that, “It was important to provide a common platform to students of the University to address different issues. The response from the students of the College has been tremendous, as within minutes of the release of the first issue, all the copies were sold out. The students have appreciated the initiative and have also sent in their suggestions to make the newsletter better.”.Since the newsletter is a student based initiative and does not rely on financial support from the university, the newsletter is being offered at a rate of Rs.15/- per copy. Although this price just about covers the associated costs, Seth is on the lookout for sponsors so that the magazine can be given away free of cost. The team also plans on sending the newsletter to alumni and hope to develop a soft copy for easy e-mailing soon..On being asked how easy or difficult it was to implement the idea, Baghel (pictured below) is quick to respond and says, “It isn’t that hard….all that is required is a never say die attitude!
