Zee Hindustan anchor Rohit Ranjan has approached the Supreme Court against the Chhattisgarh Police action in relation the channel's false broadcast against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi..The plea was mentioned before a vacation bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and JK Maheshwari which agreed to hear the plea tomorrow."This man was arrested yesterday by Noida police and released on bail. He had made an error in one of his show. Now Chhattisgarh police wants to arrest him," Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra who appeared on behalf of Ranjan said."List tomorrow," the bench said..Zee News had put out a news piece alleging that Rahul Gandhi had said that murders of tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teji in Udaipur should be forgiven. Gandhi was, in fact, referring to those who had vandalised his office in Wayanad constituency of Kerala and not to Udaipur killers. The channel had later published an apology. The Chhattisgarh Police had however arrived at his residence at 5.30 am yesterday to arrest him but the Uttar Pradesh Police came to his rescue and took him away after he tweeted the development tagging UP Police, NDTV reported.He was charged for bailable offences and released by UP police, the report said.
