The Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) will be holding its first webinar centred around the growth of institutional arbitration in India on May 16.

The webinar will be focused on the theme, “Proposed Reforms for Arbitration in India: The Vital Role of Institutions in Advancing Best Practices and Expanding Horizons."

The following speakers will be participating in the webinar:

  1. Dr. Lalit Bhasin - FCIArb, Managing Partner at Bhasin & Company and President of the Society of Indian Law Firms;

  2. Nikolaus Pitkowitz -  FCIArb, Founding Partner of Pitkowitz & Partners and President of VIAC;

  3. Vyapak Desai – Head: International Dispute Resolution at Nishith Desai Associates and Director of CIArb India; 

  4. Niamh Leinwather – Secretary General, VIAC (Moderator);

  5. Kamalia Mehtiyeva – President of the Azerbaijan Arbitration Association and VIAC Ambassador (Azerbaijan);

  6. Arush Khanna – FCIArb, Partner at Numen Law Offices and VIAC Ambassador (India).

The panel will explore international best practices in institutional arbitration such as the use of third party funding and technology and also discuss challenges and opportunities for institutions to ensure that Institutional Arbitration becomes the norm rather than the exception in India.
