A special court in Uttar Pradesh (UP) has convicted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Indra Pratap alias Khabbu Tiwari from Ayodhya, in a fake mark sheet case, following which he has been disqualified from the UP Assembly..Special judge, Pooja Singh convicted Tiwari earlier this year in October and sentenced him to 5 years in jail."The prosecution has been successful in proving the charges leveled against accused persons Phool Chandra Yadav, Kripa Nidhan Tiwari and Indra Pratap Tiwari under sections 420, 468, 47 of IPC beyond a reasonable doubt. Therefore, the accused Phool Chandra Yadav, Kripa Nidhan Tiwari and Indra Pratap Tiwari are liable to be convicted," the Court held. The Court said that Tiwari had forged his mark sheet to secure admission in a college for BSc course.In 1992, Principal of Saket Degree College had lodged the complaint alleging that Tiwari had failed in the BSc Part 2 examination, however, he took admission in BSc Part 3, by submitting a fake mark sheet.On December 7, the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat notified that Tiwari would be considered disqualified from the date of his conviction.Following this, Ayodhya's Gosaiganj seat which was represented Tiwari has fallen vacant.
