Unnao: Delhi Court sentences Kuldeep Singh Sengar, six others to 10 years' imprisonment for role in death of rape victim's father

The Tis Hazari Court at New Delhi today sentenced former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and six others to ten years' imprisonment for their role in the death of the Unnao rape victim's father. .The order passed by Judge Dharmesh Singh also directed Sengar and his brother Atul to deposit compensation of Rs. 10 lakh each to the victim's family..Sengar has already been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty in the Unnao rape case..The rape victim's father was killed in April 2018, while he was in judicial custody in relation to an illegal firearms case..On March 4, Sengar and six others were convicted of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy for their involvement in the death of the rape victim's father..In August 2019, the Supreme Court had transferred the trial in four cases relating to the Unnao rape case to Delhi and ordered that the same be held on a day-to-day basis and completed within 45 days..Unnao Rape: Supreme Court orders transfer of trial to Delhi, day-to-day trial to be completed in 45 days.In December last year, Sengar was convicted by the Court of District and Sessions Judge, Tis Hazari for commission of offences under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 5(c) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act..Breaking: Delhi Court sentences Kuldeep Singh Sengar to imprisonment for the remainder of his life in 2017 Unnao rape case..He was thereafter sentenced to imprisonment for the remainder of his life.
