The Madras High Court Monday told Tamil film actor Mansoor Ali Khan that celebrities should know how to behave in public..The High Court also told Khan’s counsel, who was appearing on the actor’s behalf in the defamation suit filed by him, to advise his client on model behaviour while making public appearances..Justice N Satish Kumar, who was hearing the defamation suit, also asked why Khan had filed the defamation suit and said actor Trisha Krishnan, one of the respondents against whom Khan moved the Court, should have instead approached the Court..“One should know how to behave in public. Is this the way to talk and behave in public especially when you know that many youngsters follow actors and consider them their role models,” the Court said..Last week, Khan had filed the defamation suit against actors Trisha and Chiranjeevi, and actor and Bharatiya Janata Party member Kushboo Sundar claiming they had taken a joke he had made, out of context, and in turn, made defamatory comments against him on social media..On Monday, when the Court asked Khan if he had offered an unconditional apology to Trisha, Khan said he had and offered to submit the YouTube clip of him having offered such apology. The actor then said that Trisha had also accepted his apology and therefore, should be directed to delete her comments on the incident posted on X (formerly Twitter).The Court granted time till December 22 to Trisha, Chiranjeevi, and Kushboo to respond to Khan’s suit..At a press meet for the promotion of Leo, Khan had made misogynistic comments on the lines that while both Trisha and he were part of the film, he did not get to share screen space with Trisha, and had no “bedroom scenes” with her.Khan’s statement had led to severe backlash and actors such as Chiranjeevi, Khushbu Sundar, Trisha, and makers of Leo had condemned such statement via posts on X.The Chennai police had subsequently registered an FIR against Khan after the National Commission for Women took suo moto cognizance of the actor’s statement.
