The Chennai police has arrested a man who lied about his connections with the judiciary and misused the name of Madras High Court judge, Justice Anand Venkatesh to secure a seat in a private engineering college in the city..On Tuesday, the police arrested one R Venkatesaperuma, who had pretended to be Justice Venkatesh's personal secretary and contacted the private college asking for a seat for someone known to him. The police have registered a case at the High Court Police Station on charges of cheating and impersonation under Sections 417, 419, and 511 of Indian Penal Code.The incident came to light after a senior advocate contacted the judge's chambers and told the staff that the college had received calls from someone identifying as Justice Venkatesh's secretary. The advocate also shared the phone number from which the college had received the call.Justice Venkatesh's official personal secretary K Pushpalatha then called on the phone number from which the college had received such call. A person picked up and identified himself as Justice Venkatesh's secretary.Pushpalatha then registered a police complaint which led to the arrest.
