The Supreme Court today passed an order stating that a three-member committee will hear and decide on objections to the Delhi Bar Council elections held in March this year..A Bench of Justices Rohinton Nariman and Abhay Manohar Sapre passed the order while hearing the matter in Ajayinder Sangwan and Ors v. Bar Council of Delhi..ASG Maninder Singh, appearing for the Delhi Bar Council told the Court that after the recent elections to the Delhi Bar Council, the results were declared but not published. The Court said that they have been given to understand that 25 members were elected in the Delhi Bar Council elections since this Court last passed an order..The Court then ordered for a three-member committee to look into the objections raised vis-à-vis the elections and decide on the same within ten days. The Court categorically said that,.“In the absence of any such decision, it will be taken that the objections have been rejected”.After ten days, the results can finally be published and the elected members can take over their office, the Court said.
