Term 'Women' in MTP Act judgment includes cis-women and persons of other gender identities requiring access to safe abortion: Supreme Court

The Court said that the usage of the term women applies not just to cis-women but also those of other gender identities who have the reproductive system of the female sex.

The Supreme Court on Thursday, delivered a significant decision that reaffirmed that the right to reproductive choice, being a facet of Article 21 of the Constitution of India, is applicable to women, as well those who identify as any other gender but require access to safe reproductive healthcare.
