Telangana High Court upholds rule restricting district judge appointment to advocates from State
According to Rule 5(1)(a) of Telangana State Judicial (Service and Cadre) Rules, only a person practicing as a lawyer in the High Court or courts under it for not less than 7 years, can be appointed District Judge.
The Telangana High Court recently dismissed a petition challenging a rule that allows only those advocates who have practiced law within the State to apply for the post of District Judge [Bodugula Brahmaiah and others v. State of Telangana].
