The Secretaries of both the Telangana High Court Advocates Association (THCAA) and the Andhra Pradesh High Court Advocates Association (APHCAA) have called for an Extra Ordinary General Body Meeting (EGM) on Tuesday, February 27..The meeting, which is to be held at the Association Hall at 1:45 pm, has been called to discuss a number of issues, including the High Court functioning without a regular Chief Justice..The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and for the State of Andhra Pradesh has been functioning under the stewardship of Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) Ramesh Ranganathan since July 2016..The filling of judicial vacancies at the High Court, which is functioning at half of its sanctioned strength, and the vacancies in the subordinate judiciary will also be discussed..With the retirement of Justice MSK Jaiswal earlier this month, there are 31 vacancies at the High Court, as against a sanctioned strength of 61 judges..The notice also alludes to pressure being brought upon the subordinate judiciary to speedily dispose of cases pending since before 2012.
