Supreme Court upholds stay on enforcement of CM Arvind Kejriwal press conference promise to pay rent for poor

The Supreme Court observed that there should be a notification to give effect to the assurances made in a speech or press conference without which a government cannot be made to enforce such assurances.

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a stay on enforcement of single-judge order of Delhi High Court which had held that the Delhi government is bound by the assurances given by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at a press conference [Najma vs NCT of Delhi].
