The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a Punjab and Haryana High Court order that had directed the State Election Commission and the Punjab government to announce the schedule for elections to five municipal corporations and 42 municipal councils in the State within fifteen days [State of Punjab and ors v Beant Kumar and anr].
