The Supreme Court on Tuesday took exception to a lawyers who rely on 'misleading' photographs that are captured through mobile phones and added to pleadings [Trustee A/M Kannan Temple vs C Karthikeyan and ors]..A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan warned that it would one day pass a strong order against such members of the Bar.The Court made the comment after taking note of certain photos it found annexed to pleadings submitted in a land encroachment case"Mobile se photo liya aur annexure mei laga diya (you took a photo from a mobile and simply attached in an annexure). One day I am going to pass an extremely harsh order against the members of the Bar. All misleading photos filed before this Court. This does not happen in High Courts," Justice Kant remarked. He hinted that advocates found guilty of such practices should have their licenses taken away."We need to do something. We would have to cancel their license if the Bar members keep doing this," he said..The Bench was hearing an appeal against a January 12 Madras High Court order. In this case, the High Court had disposed of a plea by one C Karthikeyan, who had sought the removal of an encroachment made by the A/M Kannan Temple in Chennai. The High Court disposed of the matter after recording the Chennai corporation's assurance that the needful (to remove the alleged encroachment by the temple) would be done within four weeks. The temple challenged the verdict before the apex court, which dismissed the appeal today.
