The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed the view that Justice Shiva Kirti Singh should continue as Chairman of the Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) till a fresh appointment is made to the post. .The Court also requested the Chief Justice of India to expedite the process of appointment..The Supreme Court passed this order while hearing a plea challenging Sections 12 and 13 of the Tribunal Reforms (Rationalisation and Conditions of Service) Ordinance, 2021 and Sections 184 and 186(2) of the Finance Act, 2017 as amended..During the hearing, Attorney General KK Venugopal mentioned that as per the Supreme Court order in January, Justice Singh was to continue for 3 months till a new appointment was made. We will request CJI NV Ramana to constitute the committee at the earliest.
