Supreme Court judge Justice UU Lalit, who is also the Executive Chairperson of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), on Friday flagged off a bike rally "Ride for legal Awareness" in Ladakh..The ride was organized as a part of pan India awareness and outreach campaign in celebration of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' under the supervision of Ladakh Legal Services Authority (LLSA) and under the aegis of NALSA in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil and Ladakh adventure sports for legal awareness.The participants will attempt to reach out to maximum people and make them aware about programmes of NALSA and their right to free legal aid.The participants include 22 bikers who will travel across 150 kms covering Drass, Battalik, Chiktan and Wakha. There are also 20 cyclists led by advocate Asgar Yarkin who will travel 30 kms from TFC Kargil to Ashina village covering 4 to 5 villages enroute.Their vision will be to reach out to the tribal villages and population in the interiors of the district. During this ride for legal awareness, the volunteers will distribute the pamphlets containing information about the beneficiaries under Legal Services Authorities Act.The flagging off ceremony was also attended by Executive Chairman of LLSA, Justice DS Thakur, Chairman of High Court Legal Services Committee, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Member Secretary of NALSA Ashok Jain, Director NALSA Puneet Sehgal, Member Secretary of LLSA MK Sharma, besides officers from the administration and judiciary of Ladakh.
