The Supreme Court today expressed its inclination to dispose of the 2011 case pertaining to the Padmanabhaswamy temple.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud today said that the Supreme Court cannot continue to monitor the administration of the temple indefinitely.

When Amicus Curiae Gopal Subramaniun pointed out that the main issue regarding who has the authority over the temple was yet to be decided, the Court said that it will decide the same after settling the issue of opening of Kallara ‘B’.

The Kallara ‘B’, or Vault ‘B’, has not been opened yet due to reservations expressed by certain parties about how it could turn out to be inauspicious. The Amicus, however, pressed for opening the same today.

With the Court expressing its inclination to dispose of the main matter, the issue regarding of opening of Kallara B is also likely to be decided soon.

Besides the above, the Court today appointed Justice KS Radhakrishnan to head a selection committee for choosing person(s) to carry out repair works of Sreekovil.

The Court also refused to change the security arrangements for the temple currently in place.
