Supreme Court directs Swami Om to pay Rs 5 lakh fine for plea challenging Justice Dipak Misra's elevation as CJI
In August 2017, Supreme Court had imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on self-proclaimed godman Swami Om for challenging the appointment of Misra J, terming it as a "popularity stunt".
The Supreme Court today asked Swami Om to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh in relation to his plea challenging the elevation of Justice (retd) Dipak Misra as Chief Justice of India back in 2017.
