The Supreme Court on Monday directed real estate company Supertech to complete the demolition of the 40-storied twin towers of its Emerald Court project within two weeks..A Bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant directed the CEO of New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) to convene a meeting of all concerned agencies within 72 hours to finalise the schedule for demolition of the towers. .On August 31 last year, the Supreme Court had upheld a 2014 verdict of the Allahabad High Court directing the demolition of the 40-storey twin tower building of Supertech Limited. It ordered the demolition of the twin towers to be completed within three months, at the builder's expense.The Court had also ordered that all the flat-owners in the twin towers be reimbursed with 12 per cent interest, and upheld the High Court's direction of sanction to prosecute the errant officials concerned.On October 4, last year, the Supreme Court had dismissed a plea moved by Supertech Limited seeking modification of the said order to the extent that only one tower be demolished.
