Supreme Court agrees to hear plea seeking stay on J&K government circular directing removal of encroachment on state land

During the pendency of several review petitions challenging a 2020 High Court judgment rendering the Roshni Act unconstitutional, the J&K government directed removal of all encroachment on state land by January 31.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to list an urgent application seeking a stay on a circular issued by the Jammu & Kashmir government that directed removal of all encroachment on land owned by the Union Territory, including Roshni land and Kachharie land.
