IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been appointed new Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment based on the recommendation of the three-member panel of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana and Leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Jaiswal, who is a 1985 batch officer, is currently serving as the Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He had earlier served as Director General of Police, Maharashtra.
The appointment is for a period of two years from the date of assumption of charge.
