Senior Counsel Darius Khambata joins One Essex Court

Designated Senior Counsel of the Bombay High Court and former Advocate General for the State of Maharashtra Darius Khambata has joined the chambers of One Essex Court, London..Khambata, who has also served as Additional Solicitor General of India, will join the One Essex Court chambers with immediate effect..The press release states that being a specialist in commercial law, and in particular corporate and securities law, Khambata’s areas of expertise complement those of the One Essex Court chambers..Hailing from a family of lawyers and judges, Khambata did his law from Government Law College, Mumbai, after which he went to Harvard Law School. On his return to India, he worked in the chambers of Sir Jamshedji Kanga. He was appointed Advocate General for Maharashtra in 2012, and was even offered two chances to join the Bench..As per the release, Khambata has served on a special Committee formed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to recommend new Insider Trading regulations. He was also a member of the Law Commission of India’s Committee that in 2014-2015 framed and recommended substantial amendments to the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. He was Vice-Chairman of a Task Force established by the Union of India, to plan the structure of the proposed Financial Services Appellate Tribunal.
